Rhonda Byrne in the book "The Secret" tells us that in order to achieve our dreams one should first imagine oneself in that dream. Her logic is simple 'You get what you think'. Everyone advises me to listen to Rhonda as I keep on cribbing about my unemployment status.
And so I obeyed and started imagining myself. But the one difference between others dreaming and mine was...I have too many dreams which keep on changing! To top it all, if at all I start thinking about getting a job and working somewhere I end up day-dreaming of how my office will look like? What I should wear? my timings? my colleagues? Everything !! except the most obvious thing- My JOB Profile!!
Talking about my unemployment, I feel so awful to tell u all that its been 6-7 months I have been searching for job! I was selected in few,but i didn't join coz in some didn't like my job profile, in some-too less salary,sometimes company was too small and in some....uhh..without any reason! Am a big lazy bone!
And then there are those interviewers to add to my frustration!
1st of all I have to dig out my wadrobe for my formal clothes as they like to hide themselves & get crumpled whenever I need them. Next is the office location which is purposely situated in no man's land, that by the time you reach there you start sweating like a pig!(Its only when we have to go somewhere urgently, the trains r running late or there is too much of traffic!)
Then again they(interviewers) make u wait for another 1/2 hr or 1 hr..you r bit nervous,bit irritated for waiting so long and these mixed emotions fills ur bladder and when u r about to decide to go to pee,ur interviewer calls u.
U give him a fake smile and sit uncomfortably,and then the chair squeaks more than it should be. There starts the famous standard interviewers questions! Folks,no need to buy interviewers guide book, just give 2-3 interviews and you urself will answer prior to the questions he is supposed to ask you.! Bingo!
Here are some standard questions asked by the interviewers:
Int- Tell me something about yourself?
You- Umm (do my answer help me get more salary?)
Int-Who all are there in your family? what your father does?
You-(Uh? is this job interview or marriage?) Me, my mom,dad,sister,brother,grandpa,grandma,mama,mami,masi,masu,my kamwali..blah blah..
Int-So what does success means to you?
You-(Money! Money! Money!) err....(for this you have to learn success's definition frm wikipedia/oxford..that's it!!)
Int-Where you see urself 10 years down the line?
You- In heaven :) (oh they say worlds gonna end in 2012,thats y)
After this brain grueling session, interviewer tells you that you r selected and then tells you about ur salary package and you faint. He just says one word, that one word can attract u if you see it on a product's pack but it will repel you if u hear it from an interviewer. Join as a Trainee and work for "free! free!free!"grr...
Anyways I want to end this with my friend Tany's advice: Dont try to follow others make others follow you. Job is not the ultimate thing,mental satisfaction is.!! My warning: If you r a girl and your interviewer is also a lady then.. Dang!!! All the best!! (dunno if samething happens with guys!)
P.S: I was having grilled sandwich from a very famous sandwich center in Santacruz(w), there they had put job vacancy,wanted sandwich wala! psst...the salary mentioned there was more than the one I was offered by a very good company.
